We use Cloudflare workers. Workers functions run on Cloudflare’s Edge Network - a growing global network of thousands of machines distributed across hundreds of locations.
For the URL database, we use KV from Cloudflare, which is a global, low-latency, key-value data store. It stores data in a small number of centralised data centres, then caches that data in Cloudflare’s data centres after access.
KV supports exceptionally high read volumes with low latency, and along with the edge workers, your end user is always greeted with fast redirects.
